Nuwara Eliya once called “Little England” nestles at the foot of Sri Lanka’s tallest mountain Pidurutalagala and is home to some of the best tea plantations in the world. Surrounded by wooded mountains and a picturesque lake, its cold temperatures calls for sweaters, log fires and blankets - a pleasant contrast to the island’s otherwise hot and steamy tropical weather. In terms of entertainment, it is home to the famed Nuwara Eliya Golf Club and Race Course. During the season in April it attracts visitors from within the country and overseas, and the town turns in to a hub of activity with its local Derby and motor races. It is the perfect base for hikes, picnics and trout fishing in the surrounding lakes and river

Kandy locally referred to as Maha Nuwara (meaning The Great City), is the Hill Capital and one of the most scenic cities in the country. It is also home to one of the most revered places of Buddhist worship in Sri Lanka. The sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha is housed in the temple, known as the Dalada Maligawa. It is not only its places of historical significance that make Kandy a popular tourist destination, but also the shops displaying precious and semi-precious stones, skillfully crafted jewellery, handicrafts, colorful batiks and silks; Some of the main attractions of the city are: The Royal Palace Complex and its other buildings consisting of the King’s Palace, the Queen’s Palace, the Audience Hall, the Royal Bathhouse and Royal Summer House, represent the final flowering of Sinhalese architecture and craftsmanship. The Royal Bathhouse, on the edge of the lake, is a beautiful pavilion with a traditional Kandyan roof supported by white columns.

Bentota A Sri Lankan coastal city famous for golden beaches, Bentota is situated on the southern coastal tip of the Galle District of the Southern Province. Just across the Bentota Bridge over the River Bentara also called River Bentota Ganga is the coastal town of Bentota. Bentota is a very pretty rural area: the greenery of the landscape is especially striking. Most of the areas are well shaded and sheltered by tall trees with the coconut palm tress dominating the landscape.

Colombo The name "Colombo", first introduced by the Portuguese in 1505, is believed to be derived from the classical Sinhalese name Kolon thota, meaning "port on the river Kelani". It has also been suggested that the name may be derived from the Sinhalese name Kola-amba-thota which means "Harbor with leafy mango trees". Due to its large harbor and its strategic position along the East-West sea trade routes, Colombo was known to ancient traders 2,000 years ago. However it was only made the capital of the island when Sri Lanka was ceded to the British Empire in 1815, and its status as capital was retained when the nation became independent in 1948. In 1978, when administrative functions were moved to Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte, Colombo was designated as the commercial capital of Sri Lanka.
